Be your own judge.

Hello guys,
It's your potential blogger here again.

Good morning my pals over here in Nigeria and good day to everyone out there, I hope you are having /had a wonderful day.

Today I'm going to the depths of Nigeria (Warri to be precise) to bring out a quote that would introduce my topic today. It goes like this...

Pikin wen them carry for back nor dey know as the journey far.

The above quote can be interpreted to mean the same thing with the quote

before you judge walk a mile in the other person's shoes.

Simply put, premature or early criticism is a situation whereby we draw conclusions about someone 's action, personality, character etc without actually sitting down to analyze the cause of the person's action or the condition that warranted such behavior.

Most times we all tend to be very judgemental when things happen, we say things like "He/she is stupid for doing this or that" or we tend to enforce our own ideas on others not putting into consideration the ability or resources available to such an individual.

The funny thing is that we still blame people when they fail as a result of heeding to our influence. This takes me back to the story of the farmer, his son and his donkey. For most of us who haven't heard of the story, here's a quick summary.

A farmer was going to the market with is son to sell his old donkey. Considering the age of the donkey, the farmer and his son decided not to ride the donkey. Instead they walked along side it while they led it to the market.
On their way, they came across a group of cattle rearers who laughed at them for not utilizing the donkey. "this foolish men are stressing themselves walking when they have a donkey just beside them", yielding to the words of these men, the farmer decided that his son should sit on the donkey since he was lighter in weight. After a while, they came across a group of women who were spiteful of the farmer's son saying "what a disrespectful boy, sitting comfortably on the donkey while is father trekked under the sun". Once again they heeded to the words of the women and the boy climbed down from the donkey for his father to sit.
After a while, they came across some hunters who became spiteful of the farmer. "What a wicked man, sitting on the donkey while his own son suffers under the sun trekking" they said. Again the farmer heeded their words and his son climbed on the old donkey with him.
After a while of riding together, the donkey collapsed and died. Shortly people then gathered around blaming the farmer and his son for over using the poor donkey. The farmer and his son went back home without their old donkey or any money to show for it.

This story here is a perfect example of how we humans behave. You would notice that every set of people had their own opinion about the farmer and his son without taking the age of the donkey into consideration then when the donkey finally died, they spared no time in accusing the farmer of over using the donkey when it was clearly as a result of their opinions.
My advice to everyone today is to be your own judge. Before you do anything, analyse it for yourself. Ask yourself the need, the important, the reason and the alternative to your actions. If you've finally understood this, people's opinions won't matter much.
