In the bible, the Shepherd has always been about the safety of the sheep, and the wellness of the sheep assures him of the need to continually be alive and to keep living.
Examples of shepherds who stood out for the wellness of their sheep abound and as a young boy growing up, I dreamt of being like David, the shepherd boy who defended his father's sheep from the claws of wild beast, (wait a minute... I still do).
The leader is supposed to be seen as the big sheep that goes ahead of the pack to continually reassure them of their safety and open the barn gates. But today, the reverse is the case as many supposed "leaders" rather let the sheep lead while they follow.
An example of this is what is obtained in my country Nigeria, the leaders continually neglect the people and only know how to take care of themselves and their own. The policies made are not in the interest of people, little wonder we are a country with the Highest paid Legislators and Leaders with over 60million persons living below $1USD per day.
Bottom line is, the shepherd is the 'head sheep' and believe me 'whatever will kill the sheep should kill the head sheep first' that is, if the essence of shepherding is not negated.
As a good shepherd, service to the sheep comes first.
A leader must be willing to serve the people and not the other way round. I have seen many good leaders here on Steemit who have proven beyond reasonable doubt that they have what it takes to move the next generation of innovators forward. So be smart, Steem smart and mine smart with your smart mind.
