Depression is on the rise these days, and a high percentage of young persons suffer from this. It could be as a result of body shaming, persistent failures, bullying. During depression, you lose hope, the zeal to do things, even energy which makes it difficult to take steps that'll help you get better. BE AROUND LOVED ONES

The major contributing factor to depression is your thought. Depression puts a negative spin on everything, you ignore all the positive events that took place, and focus on the negative ones, you forget all the 1,000 things that went right, and focus on the only thing that went wrong, you generalize the wrong happenings in your life. This isn't the time to feel sorry for yourself, rather divert your energy into doing something for yourself. You need to change how you think, you may feel you can't accomplish anything, but make moves, take responsibilities, you'll be glad you did.

Overcoming depression is more of actions than words, it can be difficult taking actions when you're depressed, everything becomes exhausting, the thought of doing the above mentioned can even be tiring, but it's very pertinent you're the only one that can help you get better. Depression is real, and it's very possible to fight, and ovecome.

Depression as you said is a public health issue as it has been increasing over the last few years, with this depression also being linked to other causes as excessive alcohol consumption.

As you said, one of the main advices to overcome depression is sharing time with other people, this way any person can become more ressilient and not be affected by difficult incidents or situations in life.
