DRAW STRENGTH FROM PEOPLE AROUND YOU

This topic is important to me because it has helped me grow despite the hurdles I have come across. There were times I felt like giving up, running away or quiting. I discovered the people around me have truly helped me go through these phases. Let me back this up with a short story.

I was in my third year in college, everything was going well till one of my result came out. I had 40 E. I was so sad. I prepared for the examination like my life depended on it. I bought expensive books and treated all past questions. I got to my room and broke down. My roommate happened to be my course mate and best friend. He encouraged me to stop being sad and meet with the lecturer in charge. I didn't want to but I eventually did. To cut the long story short, he checked my script and saw some discrepancies. It was re-marked and I eventually got 65B.

I owe the success of that paper to my true friend for his encouragement and strength. I could draw strength from him because he believed in me and my effort. There is always a reward for an effort and mine was an excellent result.

How Do We Draw Strength From People Around Us

• Surround Yourself With The Right People: The world is wicked and dark these days - we sometimes find it hard to relate with people. The truth is, we must find people better than us or with like minds so we can draw strength from them. Just like the saying:

Iron sharpeneth iron.

There was a time on Steemit, I almost gave up. My posts were not seen. My friend, @ilukzymoore, told me about discord. I joined and related with lot of communities. I am grateful for @samest and @airhawk-project for accepting me and strengthening me. I have surrounded myself with mentors, critics and fans. They have encouraged me to be better with my writing and thought. Whenever I have writer's block, I check @warpedpoetic or @vanessahampton or @zizimena page on Steemit to get inspired and motivated.

• Relate Properly: We go through problems and encounter issues. Sometimes we want to keep to ourselves and solve them alone but the truth is:

No man is an island.

I believe with the right people around us, we can talk to them about what we going through and they can help us in any way they can. I have bared my mind out on curation shows and it has helped me tremendously. I have talked with @samest many times so I can get better. Relating with the good people around you eases you of the tension eating you up.

• Make An Effort: Effort is the work we do to achieve what we have set ourselves to. Yes, we get weak but making an effort to get better is truly the best way out. When we draw strength from people around, we learn and get encouraged. We don't just sit down there with what we have learnt, we make an effort to get out of the issue we are in. I drew strength from my friend when I thought I failed and made an effort - I met with the lecturer and I got the result I wanted.

I can't say it all but the very few points I have made should be explanatory enough. There is a newbie or minnow planning to quit, please don't. Join discord channels around, relate with people and draw enough strength you need to succeed from these wonderful people.

The truth is, you don't have to know people personally before they inspire you. There are many people I don't know how they look like but their posts on Steemit truly strengthen me. The very few I know, inspire and motivate me to be better.

In conclusion, we know times are hard but there are still good people around. Let us find people better than us and doing much better than us so their work can make us better. So when we relate with them, they criticize us till we become better than them. Thank you for your time.
