WHY WORRY?
The society places on humans a standard of success. According to Lenrie Peters in "The Panic of Growing Older", at twenty, an individual is filled with hope of living a successful life:"At twenty/ stilled by hope/ of gigantic success"(lines6-7). But at thirty, if the success is not forthcoming, panic sets in. "At thirty/ a sudden throb/ of pain, laboratory tests, having nothing to show"(lines9-12).
According to him, the panic increases in later years when all the parameters of success are lacking: "Copybook bisected/ with red ink/ and failures/ nothing to show the world".(17-19).
However, in the book of Matt. 6:25-34, Jesus urges us not to worry about what to eat, drink or wear. Our heavenly father provides fowls. Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed as the lilies of the field.
So, why worry? Worrying cannot make your condition better, instead it aggravates it. Take solace in the song which the lines read: Why worry, when you can pray, trust in the Lord and he will lead your way. Never be like doubting Thomas, keep trusting in all his promise, why worry, worry, worry.
