Be Great III

4. Greatness means you have to stretch.
To stretch means you have to go overboard or most of the times do more than we thought we could. Often times we feel we have reached our limit but the truth is, that is when we need to stretch. Great people don't do the normal. Greater people don't stop where others stopped but rather they go the extra length or miles. Going the extra miles sets great people apart.
Great people always add an extra to their ordinary. You need to stretch yourself. There is always an extra length to go from the point you thought was the end and the problem is, we often just don't see it. And since it was highlighted earlier that another hallmark for a great person is discernment, so you have to discern and know.
If you want to be great, the truth is that you will be stretched in every area of your life and you have to be willing to go that length too.
Your love walk will be stretched as you will have a lot of people trying to bring you down, hurt you intentionally and even spread defamatory words about you but they are distractions and nothing more. You need to learn to work with those who might want to pull you down and you have to make allowances for them and still make sure you achieve the same result in the end.
Proverbs 25:21&22 (NIV):
21 - If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.
22 - In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.
You want to be great? Trust me, your faith will be stretched. You will come to the point where you will question why you started in the first place but then remembering that God has not brought you this far to fail you will be a good standing point to hold on to.
Imagine Abraham being promised a child through Sarah and yet for many years nothing happened. He was great in cattles and animals yet his faith was stretched.
There will also be an increase in your giving too if you want to be great. You never know those whom God is using you to bless and how much it means to them. God will stretch you in your giving. Imagine Abraham finally receiving his child and yet God requested for the child to be sacrificed?
Your faith and giving will always be stretched beyond your obvious limit but keep pushing because there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is not from the on rushing train.
