One Step at a Time!
We often dont know that even the brightest dreams are surrounded by barriers. One of the biggest barriers to goal setting and getting can be too much focus on the bigger picture or the end result. Why it is good to have a clear picture, many people spend too much time on it (destination) with little or no focus on the journey.
Because of the lack of concentration on the immediate steps to reaching our goals, our desires may then seem too far away or just too hard to reach. This simply shuts down our seat of motivation and inner strength!
The story is said of Eric Sevareid, author and correspondent who during the Second World War was forced to parachute from a damaged transport plane into the jungle on the Burma-India border. Along with other survivors, they knew that any rescue attempt would take several weeks and so instead of waiting they had no option but to start walking. They faced a daunting task with the tropical heat, monsoon rains and of course a painful 140 mile march over mountainous terrain.
In Sevareid words: “In the first hour of the march I rammed a boot nail deep into one foot: by evening I had bleeding blisters….on both
feet. Could I hobble 140 miles? Could the others (some in worse shape than I), complete such a distance? We were convinced we could not. But
we decided that if we could hobble to the next ridge; we could make the next friendly village for the night. And that, of course, was all
we had to do…”
So, even though their goal was to enter India, they shifted their focus to the next little albeit important step to take - the next ridge & the next village and at the end, they entered successfully.
Beloved, the destination may be bigger than your strength can hold but i assure you, if you placed your focus on the steps, you will accomplish your dreams and get to your destination much quicker, faster and will less damage done.
Take it one step at a time; because even a journey of a million kilometers long, it start with a millimeter step.
