What Is The Greatest You've Given?

in #motivation6 years ago

Okay, some would be quick to infer that what I meant here is in terms of material gifts. Yeah, it could be part of it, but there is more to "giving" than is just seen peripherally. Let me quickly tell us this before I continue: Your net worth is not measured in the excesses of your possession or what you have acquired, but in your acts of liberality towards the course of humanity.

Let me use this example to buttress a point: If someone has $100 for example, and he gives out $10, but another person has just $10 but was willing to part away with $4 as an act of kindness, who do you think gave more?

It is not always based on the quantity of what you give, but the quality and heart from which it proceeds from. This is what differentiates sacrifice from just giving. But there are things that should complement your giving, and among them is; "Smile". Oh yes! Smile should accompany your giving. This shows your willingness to give and not that you're compelled to give.

Also, give in love. Sometimes, people's sense of judgement could be beclouded by the thought of returns on givings. That is; some would expect something in return when giving. But I ask: Are you giving in love or is this just another form of business?

Some would only give to their friends and people that have shown them favour before. Yeah! That's very good, but much more than that, you should also extend your givings to others. By doing that, you can win the battle against evil with good. This statement by Tin Man really got me:

The moments that really matter are the moments when you're offered the choice to make a sacrifice, conquer a flaw, save a friend, and spare an enemy. - Tin Man [Colossus]

Now you see, sacrifices should apply to all or none [if you know what I mean]. So guys, be good!!

Peace on y'all

Wise words man. I think that when we decide to give to someone, there should be no ulterior motive behind that deed but just because we were driven from within to share or give out what we had.

I agree with you on that ✔
Thanks for the nice comment

Offering is a lot different from giving. You can offer unconditionally, but when you give, you usually expect something in return (material or not). There are people who give because that makes them look good in their eyes and so they are happy; but there are people who offer, strive to help others without ever looking back at their own good deeds and keep looking forward to the good deeds they are going to do in the future. That kind of people we should be looking up to. The ones that offer because they feel it is the right and normal thing to do, not the ones who expect "exchanges"

Have a great Sunday, Sammy! :D
