Mountain biking Downieville, CA day 2
Hello all, this is my 2nd shuttle at downieville, CA. The shuttle started off at 10am this morning and I decided to add a bit more to the ride and started out with a climb. The Packer Saddle campground is where everyone is dropped off and is at elevation 7,000 feet, so the climbing is a bit tough for 'flatlanders' like me. (Have you ever climbed a bike at high elevation?)
Near the top of the climb, I ended up at deer lake which is below.
The ride was 20 miles and 1,400 feet of climbing. Probably 50% of that elevation was hike a bike, too steep and technical to climb for me. Hiking a bike burns quite a bit of calories when it is close to 90* f.

Here is the trail just past Deer lake along the ridge, a smooth single track in the high sierras.
The trail that I took down was named 'Eat Shit ake'

I would recommend coming to Downieville if you are a solid mountain biker. There is plenty of articles and videos of this place online. Check them out and go for a ride!

Places are very nice to see. Seeing the picture I think riding the bike here is really very difficult. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
It is very hard to ride a mountain bike due to the weight, especially a heavy bike and a steep grade.
@glennolua Excellent ride I have never climbed on that great scale to the top because you have to be physically good but powerful to get there, but to enjoy such beautiful and spectacular trails and beautiful view would do it with pleasure, I see how you enjoy your walks and is impressive @glennolua .
