MY GREATEST SPORT MOVIE OF ALL TIME

in #movie5 years ago

This idea was birthed by @behappy on Sprtshub. I just can't help but appreciate the beauty in sporting activities. Not everyone love it, but there will still be a particular one that interest you. Sports is one sector generating massive money every year, and those participating in it are well paid. The viewers also find a way to generate money from it, so you see; aside it being fun, it's also a blessing to us. Football is my favorite. I love watching basketball, tennis and wrestling, too, but soccer won my heart. Well, let's cut to the chase, I'll be reviewing my greatest sport movie of all time, and just like you guessed, it's a soccer movie.

Shaolin Soccer

It's one of the popular and succesful Hong Kong movies; the football activities weren't the only thing to watch out for, this movie is also very funny. It's about a poor young man skilled at Kong fu. He believed he can achieve anything with his fighting skills, but he later realized he might die poor with it. He figured he could do something profitable with it when he heard about a soccer completion with a grand prize of one million dollars. He teamed up with some friends and applied for the competition. They never believed they stood a chance, but they joined him anyway just to satisfy his curiosity. He alone knew something about football; his friends were just there to complete the squad. Their first match was hilarious.

The opponents saw them as jokers because their appearance and fitness sucks. One of them even got a yellow card before the referee could start the match. It was funny because he was smoking on the field. The captain of the opponent was like "So, these are the Kong fu soccer guys" with a smile in his face. When the referee blew the opening whistle, one shot from Mighty steel Lee erased the smirk on the captain's face. The first touch of the game led to a goal. The Kong fu team won that match by sixteen goals to nothing. After the first match, they started seeing them as a threat. The underdogs became the favorites to win the trophy.

Their style of football was kong fu mixed with soccer; no one could defeat them, so the finalist had to do a serious training to defeat them. They stood a chance, though. In fact, they almost defeated them, but the underdogs won the prize at the end of the day.

I couldn't hold my laughter when I watched this movie and I still remember most of the scenes till date. It was released in 2001. That's a long time ago, and it's still one of the successful Hong Kong movies till date.

Shaolin Soccer! I've heard that this one is definitely a crowd favorite, @afolwalex. Although I haven't watched the movie before, it sounds interesting to see kung fu and sports combined into one movie. How did you come across this movie? Looking forward to reading future posts!

It's been a while I watched it, so I didn't really remember how I came across the movie, but I really enjoyed it for sure. 😀
