Mystic River (2003) by Clint Eastwood (REVIEW)

in #movie5 years ago

One of the darkest detective/investigation movie out there, the story is creepy the plot will leave you speechless, from time to time it reminds me of the TV show “True Detective” season one, that season was very dark and painful to watch, Mystic River is similar movie, it has very specific context and it tells a well-designed story about one murder.

The movie plot goes like this. The paths of three childhood friends will be reunited after the tragedy of murdering one of their daughters. The investigation and the course of the movie will be looking very predictable and easy to solve.

But I guarantee you that the movie won’t end that way, it is not a cliché investigation movie, it is different than the rest of the movies, and it has emotional story and a perfect plot.

Clint Eastwood has done a great job as director, both, for the story and for the choice of actors. Sean Penn played a great role of desperate father who is ready to just find his daughter’s killer and avenge her death at all costs. Kevin Bacon was good at a police officer in charge of the investigation and Tim Robbins played well as a strange, desperate and imprisoned type who fights with his demons, surviving hell after traumas he had experienced in his childhood.

This is one of my favorite detective movies out there, the mystery and drama are perfectly combined and they will prepare you an ending that will shock you. Highly recommended.
