Joaquin Phoenix will be portraying the Joker this time and from the looks of it it will be a very different spin like we used to see one of the greatest villians of all times.
The trailer shows us Arthur Fleck who seems like a fragile man with no bad bone in his body.
Slowly he gets pushed over the edge by the world and transforms into the make up wearing, nihilistic psychopath we all know today.
This is quite a different and way more tragic take as the other Jokers we as on the big screen and gives him a very different motivation than the Joker we saw in Tim Burtons Batman from 1989 were the Joker was a criminal before and falls into some sort of acid and transforms into a super villain through this.
In "the dark knight" the Joker just appears and we do not get to know where he is coming from and what it is he actually wants. He does not care about money, he just wants to proof that everyone has a breaking point.

The trailer looks dark and uncomfortable somehow.
Todd Phillips is behind the camera directing. He mostly did comedy before (Old School, Hangover, Borat) but the couple of minutes we got to see so far make me really hopeful that we will see a great movie in October.

im a big fan of jaoquin and i love the joker character. Plenty of potential for awesomeness here.... although the trailer does make it look predominently tragic and disturbing which are not my favourite pull factors for watching a film. Still a tantalising concoction, and one i will not be missing!
It actually pulls me a lot towards the movie as it gives the story a very differnt spin.
There was a cartoon movie already with the tragic backstory spin of the joker which was pretty decent actually.
The somehow disturbing dance on the other hand....probably have to wait and see.
I really hope the movie will be good and not a suicde squad dissapointment

The joker was always one of my favorite characters. I think it will be difficult to overcome the performance of Heath Ledger. Maybe I would love to see him in his role.

Yes .. Joaquin Phoenix is an amazing actor, his performance in Gladiator was very good as a villain. I think I'll like your role as Jocker.
