Subcutaneous tension

Black image.

You hear only the sound of a strong wind blowing.

Then sounds the voice of a girl quietly quoting a text.

Slowly, a nocturnal snowy landscape comes into view with a young woman.

She is running barefoot through the snow, screaming with fear.

She runs through the snow and finally falls to her knees. She was crying and exhausted.

Sucked into the film

"Wind River" is a film where you can feel the undercurrent of tension from the first minute. The opening scene above causes you to immediately begin the movie with many questions.

What happened to this woman?

Why was she running across the snowy plain in the night?

Why was she not wearing shoes?

Of Whom or what is she running?

The beginning o the movie puts you on the edge of your seat. This subcutaneous tension is transformed into tangible tension as the film progresses.

Puzzle pieces fall into place, but everything becomes complete in the end.

Who, what, where.

On the "Wind River," a Native American girl is found dead. So naturally, the FBI takes the case.

Jane Banner (Elizabeth Olson) goes to investigate the case, but since she is not familiar with the area and the residents, she asks for the help of local hunter Cory.

Since he is also a good tracker ensures that the investigation progresses steadily.

The sparsely populated area and closed community, which does not allow outsiders, are mapped out piece by piece to solve the case.

Police presence is minimal in this area, and residents often play their judge, and problems on the reservation are also often "solved" without police intervention.

This case is over Jane's head, but you see her grow as the case progresses. From very insecure to a steadfast woman.

Cory latched onto the case because of his past. He had been married to a Native American woman, and together they lost a baby daughter.

And is therefore determined to unravel what happened that fateful night. Thus, he wants peace and clarity for the victim's parents and family.

Through good acting by Jeremy Renner, who plays the role of Cody, you feel the pain of his past. The deficiency of his little girl and the breakdown of his marriage.

Distrust is the biggest obstacle for the resident of the reservation. Therefore, they release very little information. Yet you sense that they hide the truth.

But with the limited information Jane and Cody obtain, they still get on the right track, which ends in a spectacular and enlightening ending.

Top or flop?

This movie is a must if you are looking for a film that will leave you on the edge of the couch. A murder that is solved bit by bit and presents a surprising ending at the end.
