Unlocked (2017) - the female James Bond?

in #movies7 years ago
The weekend passed with the films starring Noomi Rapace, whom I had not noticed before. It turns out she played in Sherlock Holmes and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But, at least after watching 3 films, I remembered her face and name.

In fact, the film attracted me to the presence of such actors as Michael Douglas and John Malkovich, even if not in the lead roles. But it so happened that "Unlocked" almost turned out to be one actor movie, or rather one actress, Noomi Rapace.

Director: Michael Apted
Script: Peter O'Brien (debut)
Cast: Noomi Rapace, Orlando Bloom, Toni Collette, Michael Douglas, John Malkovich.

A young guy must send a message from the mufti. But police agents grabbed him. For his interrogation, they invite the most super-agent of the CIA, a world-class agent (!) - Alice Racine. She interrogates the guy and then realizes that something is wrong. All the remaining time she will shoot enemies, escape and save London from a biological attack.

At first I thought that I was waiting for a movie like Unthinkable (2009) , there is interrogation of the suspect throughout the whole picture but I quickly realized that the "Unlocked" is an espionage thriller and at some point you notice that the film reminds of something of James Bond. Not surprisingly, after all, the director Michael Apted once removed "The World Is Not Enough" with Pierce Brosnan in the main role. But if in the James Bond films there are gloss, charm, and girls coming out of the water, then "Unlocked" is realistic. The main character runs around the apartments, houses, parking lots and with an unruffled face shoots all the enemies, although she has not had a practice for 2 years. Despite the fact that everyone deceives, Alice takes a partner - a burglar (Orlando Bloom). How can you refuse such a handsome man?

And if Bloom at least tries to give himself out acting and even amazes with his masculinity, then Rapas has a frozen mask on her face. Probably, that no spy does not understand her true emotions.

What did I like about this movie? A hint of intrigue, excellent physical training of Noomi Rapace, funny faces of John Malkovich, realism, when special services can track people only by cell phone. Without any fantastic pieces, like in "Criminal Minds." Also, I liked how Alice Racine found a way out of non-standard situations (dogs in the elevator). Her cold calculation perfectly combined with the ability to empathize. Oh, if it still somehow reflected on the face of the actress! But it was all worth watching.

Of course, to the level of James Bond this film is far away. Perhaps the next part (and it seems to be, judging by the ending) will show a good level and will bring viewers more viewing pleasure than the first part.
