Strike

Cast: Tom Burke, Holliday Grainger

Plot: The first season of the series is based on the book "The Cuckoo's Calling" by Joanne Rowling (under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith), the second - on the book "The Silkworm". I found these books to be very boring and exhausted, written for the sake of money. Her detectives were not distinguishable from any others. And this story with the promotion ... Books were not sold and on the Internet, they merged the information that she wrote them under the pseudonym. And of course, sales skyrocketed. The novel's rating was at the 5076th place on Amazon, however, when it became known about the authorship of Rowling, the book rose to the first position of the rating.

Three months after the publication, only 1500 copies of the book were sold (according to publishers, according to British bookstores - only 449), on the same day the author's exposure to the sale of the novel increased by more than 150,000% in one day.

So, Robin (and again the English rose - Holliday Grainger) is a temporary detective with an interesting name Cormoran Strike. He is a drunkard, an Afghanistan veteran, where he lost his leg. He is massively in problems and debts. He was approached by a childhood friend asking him to investigate the death of his sister - the model Lula Landry. Strike takes the case, and Robin helps him in the investigation.
Available episodes: 5/5

Opinion: I liked the TV show much more than the book. I imagined Cormoran a little different, more descended, but Tom Burke coped well with the role. Although he looks soft and kind, it does not benefit the image. I keep quiet about Holliday Grainger generally, she's perfect, she and the detective are really good together.

BBC are great in shooting the excellent series, we have a typical English detective with interesting murders, good camera work and of course, gray, rainy London and any ray of the sun isn't able to break through its grayness. In the future, I want more gloom, more rough masculinity from Burke and good music.

Cast: Jakob Oftebro, Michael Frandsen, Johannes Lassen, Sara Hjort Ditlevsen
Plot: Three terrorists took hostage 15 people in the Copenhagen metro. The police will try to achieve their release during the 8 episodes.

Available episodes: 8/8

Opinion: : If you're looking for something entertaining, this TV series is not very good for it. The first and last episodes are very interesting, but the middle ones are boring. But to look at the work of the Danish police is amusing. Three terrorists are smarter, stronger, more cunning, more organized than the Danish police. The main character Philip is the head of the operational group for the hostages'release. In one episode, he says that they have the best negotiators, but each time terrorists beat the negotiator! The specialist poured on elementary questions. There was an impression that there are some trainees in the operational group. They live in such hothouse conditions that they were not ready for this development of events. The police say that they do not sleep, they work hard, but as soon as they discuss some questions, everyone disagrees to eat pizza and discuss personal problems.

We'll see the officials who are afraid to de-energize the area, to take someone under guard, because it is illegal, they allow a journalist to communicate with terrorists. They operate only within the law, although there are 15 people are held hostage!

It was interesting to see how much technology is part of our, or European, life. The government does not enter into negotiations with terrorists and, of course, does not pay a ransom. Therefore, the ransom is collected with the help of crowdfunding.

Many decisions cause surprise and the main question, why such idiots take to work in the police? Some dialogues are built without logic and in Scandinavian style, you know, when they pause between words and pull in the beginning of "Eee".
In general, it is interesting to watch the hostages, terrorists, laugh at the work of the police, and if illogicality picks you up, then this series is not for you.

Sort:

Wow. There are so many police shows around and they are all similar and bland. Thanks for your review though. I will probably watch neither of them.

Strike isn't too bad but it's not the top show.

I can barley make it through my TV list, it won't cut it.

Danes know how to make good crime shows. Original version of The Killing (later remade in US) was very impressive.

Yeah, you're right
