Holocaust Memorial, Bucharest - The Mundane as Art Rust Contest
Hello stemians,
Here is my entry for this Mundane as art rust contest, organized by @kus-knee. You had such a great idea in choosing this theme.
Holocaust Memorial, Bucharest
The monument was inaugurated in 2009.It's located near the old town, you can visit it anytime you want. The tall steel tower is marked with the Jewish word "remember". It is made by Peter Jacobi, a Romanian sculptor, photograph and visual artist, who lives and works mostly in Germany!
It is important to remember what happened back in the past, in order to not repeat the same mistakes again!

yes! it is important to remember ...
but if a monument like this will help?
more schoolkids should see Dachau or Auschwitz for example... and even then... many mistakes are made again and again :-(
I know...
Unfortunately, the history seems to repeat itself even if we remember. I went to Auschwitz a couple of years ago, and I can't imagine how things like that can happen. It's frightening to see how much impact on the world just one leader can have.
