Metal Weekend Featuring: Slayer, Meshuggah, Converge, Nile and Stratovarius

in #music6 years ago

Well, it's that time of the week again where @detlev declares it's metal week and we all share our varied tastes in metal. In Detlev's latest post he says, "show me how fast you enjoy your metal during this weekend" so here we go, a selection of fast metal songs.

Dittohead by Slayer

Slayer is one of those bands with more fast songs in their catalogue than any other band that I can think of. People often cite Reign In Blood as one of Slayer's fastest songs, but I strongly believe Dittohead is faster and better.

War by Meshuggah

Taken from their 2001 release Rare Trax, War is friggin' fast. It's hard to believe these guys just keep on going and show no signs of slowing down. This track absolutely rips and shreds.

Axe To Fall by Converge

I don't know what genre Converge falls into it or whether you can call them metal, one thing is for sure that this song is nuts and high energy. It's fast and it's heavy, so I am going to call this an obscure form of technical hardcore metal (or something).

Cast Down the Heretic by Nile

Technical death metal legends Nile hit us with this 2005 track Cast Down the Heretic, which just explodes like a nuclear bomb straight out of the gate. It's so fast you need a glass of water after listening to it.

Speed of Light by Stratovarius

I would classify this as being a more clearer and technical form of speed over many of the other tracks in this post. The guitar work in the beginning and throughout the album is fast and you can hear every note being played.

Are these songs fast enough for you @detlev ?
