How To Make A Playlist

(LIKE A BOSS)

The following guide is a step by step guide on how to make a playlist in a way that requires real thought and to make it more entertaining I’ve attached a point system to it to gamify the process. Read all steps and rules before beginning to ensure proper execution is implemented. I’ll attach a pic of my first playlist. It is not advanced by any means, but it should be able to help you get started. Take the world by storm!

(I obviously use Spotify)

Steps (something we all have to take eventually)

  1. Begin by making a playlist on your preferred music service
  2. I usually name it Loop for easy identification
  3. Add one song that has a single featured artist on it
  4. Next, add a song that is by the person who was featured on the previous song but this song has to have a different artist featured on it
  5. Keep adding songs based on the artist who was featured on the previous song
  6. The goal is to make the playlist a perfect loop where you end it with a song where the initial artist from the first track is featured on the ending track
    • By creating such a playlist you are capable of listening to voices gradually changing into different artist as the songs change.
    • It’s quite melodic to think about you honestly

Rules (they were meant to be broken)

  • The same artist CANNOT be used twice for the purposes of clarity
  • Even if it is two different tracks, no repeats except for the following:
    • The artist may be used twice for two separate songs if the one allotted cheat has been used like in the Pentatonix example below.
  • The playlist needs to contains songs from at least three obviously separate genres of music.
    • It is ultimately up to you or Google what genre a song is, but come on people be honest!
  • You’re allowed ONE cheat, which consists of consecutively using two songs who have the EXACT same word in their title
    • It has to be the EXACT same word to maintain a certain level of difficulty
    • Example: Right Round (Flo Rida); Got Me Runnin’ Round feat. Flo Rida (Nickelback); Rockstar (Nickelback); Rockstar feat. 21 Savage (Post Malone); Real Nigga feat. Metro Boomin (21 Savage)
    • If you want to, you may use your one allotted cheat by naming two songs consecutively that are by separate artist but maybe remixes of one another
    • Example: Bad Things feat. Camila Cabello (Machine Gun Kelly); Havana feat. Young Thug (Camila Cabello); Havana (Pentatonix); Cracked (Pentatonix)

The Point System (for those who approach life like it’s a game)

  • For every song that successfully joins the playlist you get a point (Song = +1 point)
  • If you use your cheat it is a five point deduction from your total (Cheat = -5 points)
  • Special Case: If you use a song that is listed to have 2 artists but they both turn out to be the same person using identities you get ten points (Multiple Identity Artist = +10 points)
    • Example: Cocaine feat. Lil Dicky (Brain); Professional Rapper feat. Snoop Dogg (Lil Dicky)
Brain = Lil Dicky; they’re honestly the same person

Pro-User Tips & Tricks (I mean I am making this up as I go along)

  • Look at your music library for inspiration
  • Soundtracks for major motion pictures are a great place for help
  • Have fun with it, this is my gift to you (whoever is reading this)
  • It’s a great way to pass time on a flight
