If there are charts, I can use knitting or crochet books in other languages. I have some lace patterns from Japan and an entire knitting book in German.

It's nice collecting stuff like that when you have a hobby or interest. I collect books and plans about modern architecture from everywhere I travel. Diagrams are always the true universal language!
Yes, we engineers, architects, artists are visual enough to extrapolate most info from a few good pictures. Although I also love to read words, I want pictures when I am building something.
