Japanese Arigatou (Thank You) Song, MONO NO AWARE “A・I・A・O・U”

今回ご紹介するのは、MONO NO AWARE “A・I・A・O・U” です。

MONO NO AWARE は、東京都八丈島出身のロック・バンド。現在まで2枚のアルバムを発表しています。

“A・I・A・O・U” は、映画『沈没家族 劇場版』の主題歌として書き下ろされた曲です。

シガー・ロス（Sigur Rós）の “Gobbledigook” や The Dodos “Fools” を彷彿とさせる
8/6拍子のプリミティブなリズムに乗せて、クライマックスで合唱される「ありがとう」に向けて育ててくれた親への感謝の言葉を綴った心温まる一曲です。

そう、タイトルの “A・I・A・O・U” は「ありがとう（Arigatou）」の母音なんですね。

Sigur Rós - Gobbledigook

2008年のアルバム『Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust』に収録。変拍子を使ったプリミティブなリズムが圧巻。

Rogue Wave - Lake Michigan

2007年の『Asleep At Heaven’s Gate』に収録。映画『LIFE!』（原題：The Secret Life of Walter Mitty）にも使用。

The Dodos - Fools

2008年の『Visiter』に収録。GoProのプロモーション動画で使用され話題に。
