This song came together

2 nights ago, while messing around with some ambient synth sounds. The drums here are simple, but I think they worked out nicely, just enough of a beat, without making things too complicated. Track 4 also relates back to our main harmony in Track 1 in an interesting way: they don’t really ever overlap, as they are different in length. Let’s get into it!

Listen to Atmospheroid here.

Track 1 is our main

synth sound that provides the basic layer of harmony for the whole song. Essentially, we have a high A#, while the notes below it move around. We are in F#minor, and stick to that pretty rigidly; I didn't think any weird dissonances would work here. As you can see in the overview, we have a "Blue" and "Green" section. The blue is essentially moving between F# and A# in the lower notes, while the Green does a V, Vi, Vii, i sort of progression, with a little variation throughout.

Track 2 takes all the lower

notes from Track 1 and doubles them, using a different synth sound and some delays. Just added a bit of color to the timbre of the harmony. Track 3 is our drums, which stick to the same simple beat for most of the song. This drum kit turned out sounding nice, the kicks and tom have a lot of bass oompf to them for sure.

Track 4 is the electric piano

that begins with just holding some chords then moves into the little melody part (as you can see in the Overview screenshot). This Track is divided into sections of 16 bars, which doesn’t line up with where Track 1 changes/repeats, which I like a lot. The more complex melody plays 4x during the song but sounds different every time as the harmonies from Track 1 are always a bit different.

Our last instruments is Track 5,

which mirrors what Track 1 is doing above it, but uses a super-subby synth tone, which fills out the low end of the track. It comes in when the melody begins in Track 4, so the part before it feels a bit like an introduction, although that wasn't initially the intent.

Hope you enjoy the song! Thanks for checking out the walkthrough, and Steem On!

The title is very interesting to me, it seems to be a combination of things that come together to complete the piece.
