This song happened a little bit

by accident last night. I was just messing around the tone and effects Track 1 uses, and it wound up being pretty interesting, so I began adding other tracks and slowly it turned into an actual song. I still don’t know if the bass guitar should be the tone it is, or perhaps a synth, but other than it’s tone, the harmonies came out pretty cool. Let’s go through it!

Listen to Electric Icicle here.

Track 1 is our main instrument,

and provides the melody essentially. The whole track essentially has a pedal tone of an F#, while the notes above it change. Tracks 2 and 3 mirror this progression, just adding some spacey ambient-ness to the track. Check the screenshot below so you can follow the progression.

Track 4 is our drums,

which consist of 3 different beats. It’s hard to describe them, as there are no hihats, snares or kicks, but rather weird digital noises/sounds that I used in place of those drum hits. Certain parts get a bit more heavy, just adding some more tones to the mix, and others drop out a bit.

Track 5 is a

little tin piano sort of sound, which only plays once each it appears, just differentiating that section from the previous. Track 7 does this same thing, every other set of 4 bars, while Track 6 is a synth that sort of slides up and down in a random pattern. This isn’t super obvious harmonically, just adds some noise/spaciness over the sections where it plays. Check out the screenshot below to see what is mid-mapped, and then try and listen for it in the song (it doesn't sound anything like it looks).

Track 8 is our bass guitar

which I just copy-pasta’d Track 1’s progression into, then added an arpeggiator to simulate a bass line. However, as they were only diads, the arpeggiation sounded weird, so I added a midi-chord effect which added a 5th above both notes, making it 4 note arpeggiation patterns.

Tracks 9, 10 and 11

are all electric pianos, which all also mirror the main progression, but Track 9 has added harmonies in 4ths, Track 10 in 5ths, and Track 11 has like 3 additional intervals that happen from any single note, however this last track is much quieter than the others. Our final track is #12, which plays the main progression 2 octaves up. This synth has a bell sort of quality to it, and really helps bring out the harmony when it comes in.

That's it for this one! Hope you enjoy the song and thanks for checking out my blog, and, as always, Steem On!

I like the colors here you could use the parts to make art too, that would be very interesting.

The name is very fun, and good. I can imagine snow with electricity it would be a sight to behold indeed.
