Descendents - Clean Sheets

The Descendents are one of the

major punk bands to emerge from the American Punk scene of the early '80s. They formed in 1977 in Manhattan Beach, CA by members Frank Navetta, Bill Stevenson and Tony Lombardo. Two years later, Milo Aukerman joined as their vocalist, and cemented their line-up. Even in their early years, they showed a penchant for seriously technical musicality, and always strived to do something original. As their career went on, they became more and more experimental, until they broke up, losing singer Milo for a few years, and reforming as the band All.

Listen to Clean Sheets by the Descendents here.

This song appeared on their 1987

album, entitled All, which was a reference to a sort of pseudo/sarcastic metaphysical view that they had developed over the years. Eventually this would inspire the band to change their name, and this was the album where they began to really embrace prog-rock ideas and more experimental meter and harmonic changes. This song definitely still embraces their roots, but it has a much more mature feeling (musically and lyrically) than their earlier tunes.

Hope you enjoy today's song! Thanks for checking out my blog, and Steem On!

I always enjoy these songs you share, this one is very catchy good singalong sort of vocal!

This rocks! I could play some air guitar and drums to this. :)

Not all that different than the Garage Rock I write about here. The tempo is similar but the guitar is more crunchy whereas it tends to be smother strumming style in the 60s. I think; I don't really know all that much about the technical side of music, but since I'm mainly into Garage Rock and Punk, not super interested in perfect technique and skills. :)

Yeah I love this tune. It's definitely a lot slower than their early stuff, they used to be ALL blazing fast punk tunes, but they got more "rock" oriented around this album.
