'Triangular Modules' - New Original Music/Song Idea Mapped in Ableton! Electronic/Pop/Instrumental + Walkthrough!

After yesterday's post,

I was jamming the original tune on guitar, and sort of started developing something a bit different, in a different key, but using the same idea of spread voicings of simple intervals, which I then began to map out and expand upon in Ableton. This is not a complete song, just sort of a compilation of a few ideas (in Track 1, GREY, GREEN, TEAL AND LIGHT GREEN, all different progressions) which I will slowly begin to figure out an ordering for, and then add some other changes. Let's go through what I have currently.

Track 1 is the main guitar part

which I played here using an electric piano (sort of my go-to, as the guitar samples I have don't sound particularly good). We are in C min here, instead of C maj like yesterday's post. The GREY section begins on C min, then we walk down with the bass to Bb, then to an A natural, and finally Ab min, giving us a really cool, dark dissonance. Then, an Eb to G maj, before repeating. There's a little more to it, but that's the basic idea.

Track 1, GREEN, described below.

The GREEN section

changes things up, beginning on Ab maj, to Bb, then down to a G before returning to C min. I wanted things to remain similar, but be obviously different enough to not get too repetitive. The TEAL section is a lot like the grey, except we begin on C maj, adding a cool little parallel substitution. The final section is the LIGHT GREEN, in which I basically just changed all C min resolutions to an F min (or F4 at times), and had the C min happen at different points, just to add a little more uniqueness. I'm not sure if I love that section, but for now, it works as a place holder for something cooler.

Tracks 2 and 3 are our

bass parts, with 2 using a bass guitar, and 3 a heavy bass synth. Mostly, we just follow root notes, although I did move certain notes around to give us some cooler harmonies, and a bit of voice-leading in chromatic descending parts. Track 4 is our percussion track, which is definitely NOT finalized, also just sort of a place-holder, using congas as a kick drum, and a shaker and cabasa to take the place of hihats/ride.

Lastly we have Tracks 5 and 6,

both of which are different synth sounds. They are just copy-pasta'd from Track 1, but an octave lower. Again, I am not sure what these would be in a more finalized version with guitar, maybe still these synth sounds, who knows. For now, they worked well enough to just add a little depth to the whole thing.
