Wow, this music video and single are just wild with so much to unpack.
Starting off with the African beat and guitar with Gambino strutting his moves lulls you into a sense of safety, but soon enough the entire video and track switch abruptly as you will see. We are no longer in happy redbone land. He continues to bust out in popular dance move after popular dance move all while the background of the video shows various chaotic moments. Going into the lyrics, a repeated line in the track is, "This is America. Don't catch you slippin' up." He isn't wrong, a simple misstep in America can mean death for some. Props Childish Gambino.
