Musical Sunday Featuring Parokya Ni Edgar Songs

I hope all is going well with you, wherever you are now. It's Sunday and I am in the mood for chilling out and listening to some cool music of Filipino bands.

This time it's all about Parokya Ni Edgar.

Parokya Ni Edgar was formed back in 1993. No one among the band members is named Edgar though. The name literally means "Edgar's Parish". The members of the band are Chito Miranda, Vinci Montaner, Gab Chee Kee, Dindin Moreno, Buwi Meneses, and Darius Semaña.

The band's original name was Comic Relief. In 2013, Chito addressed on his Facebook page how the name Parokya Ni Edgar came about. He said that it in their Filipino subject back in high school, their teacher asked their classmate Bambi where Crisostomo Ibarra (a fictional hero from Jose Rizal's novel Noli Me Tangere) was educated. Their classmate cracked out the answer "sa parokya ni Edgar". On their first live performance, a former band member named Jeric, introduced their band on impromtu as Parokya Ni Edgar. From then on, they did not change their name anymore.

BAGSAKAN

One of my favorite songs of PNE. This song was nominated for Awit Award for Best Rap Recording. It is a collaboration with two of the best Filipino rappers in the industry, Gloc-9, and the late Francis Magalona.

On this video below, it was Frank Magalona (son of Francis) who joined PNE and Gloc-9 during their performance.

PANGARAP LANG KITA

This song earned Awit Award for Best Ballad Recording and an Awit Award for Best Collaboration.

Here is Parokya Ni Edgar with Yeng Constantino performing the song during "Inuman Sessions Vol. 2".

YOUR SONG (My One And Only You)

This song is a sleeper hit. One of the founding members of the band, Gab Chee Kee, was the one who composed the song and sang the lead vocals for it.

For a long time, I thought the title of the song was "My One And Only You". Chito clarified it in the video below that this song is in fact entitled "Your Song".
