Outdoor Jam Season
Last year a few friends added permanent outdoor stages to their homes and I have to say, we're getting better with each jam; bigger, better organized, better music, and great food. The only thing we couldn't control was the mosquitos but there was insect repellant available.
June 1st, it started in the afternoon, a beautiful day but a little cool this year.
Like last year, there was a roof of old parachutes extended over the lawn chairs from the stage roof. When we briefly received a few drops of rain, it was enough to keep it off.
Isn't this a great setup? The music was non-stop from early in the afternoon until the wee hours when there was even an extra tent set up, just in case. The people that stayed had an extended visit over breakfast.
The barbecue was next to the food tent, and a porta potty - that's one of those portable toilets - was brought in so the crowd didn't strain the septic system. I will admit to hiding in the food tent when the mosquitos were particularly bad for a short time - and there was all that food!
Some people came early and left early. Others stayed late. Folks were coming and going the whole day.
The bonfire was lit around dusk and attracted a crowd like they always do, but the music stayed on the stage. There really are people around that fire!
Below, the view from the side of the stage as night fell.
I loved the lighting around the drums.
It kept getting darker and then the stars came out. Of course, we had our own stars on stage! Check out all of the fancy lighting.
Unless you're staying over for breakfast, it's time to head home now but they were still going strong when I left.
