Metallica's Hardwired covered on a Sitar

in #music7 years ago

All of you must have heard the sound of a Sitar or have probably heard of Pandit Ravishankar(or simply Ravishankar), an Indian Classical musician who made SITAR popular in the west who also happened to play on Woodstock 69. George Harrison from "The Beatles" came to India and took Sitar Classes from him. He later went back and used Sitar in some of the Beatles' songs. So Beatles became the first western band or artist to use Sitar. Later many other rock bands also used Sitar in their songs. So Sitar in western music /classic rock is nothing new.

But what about mixing the Sitar sound with extreme metal, thrash metal or Progressive metal. Most people have never heard such music because no one ever made that type of music. But recently a Guy called Rishav from India is doing exactly that, infusing Sitar in some of the heaviest song in metal history. Here is a cover of Metallica's recent song "Hardwired"

He now has his own Sitar dominated progressive metal act with his original composition which I personally like

Recently Rishav played Sitar for Indian Death metal band Demonic Resurrection's fifth studio album

Finally , many people seems to like it, but some thinks Sitar doesn't go well with heavy music. What is your opinion? Do you like it? Please share your views.
