ROCK CALENDAR: on July 29, 1965, the second Beatles movie "Help" premiered
In early 1965, the Beatles took a break in their concert activities for the filming of the second full – length film about themselves-now color. Doubt of success was not – lepi any thing, but if there will be the Beatles and their songs succeed, because to go to a movie – it's kind of like going to a concert the Beatles. In its time (1970 -?) we had a similar Polish film about Polish musicians ("Impostor with guitar") – I don't remember the plot – it's perfectly idiotic – but I went several times to see in color on a wide screen in my Muhosransk "Skalds" and listen to their songs in decent quality. What is interesting, then in Moscow I went to their concert – it was heaven and earth! Movie was decent boys in suits, singing smooth songs, and in real life – a raging hippie, performing rock songs in the power of Deep Purple. True, they were not in the Central concert hall, and in some suburban DC, probably so – do not hesitate.
The plot of the movie "Help" is impossible to convey – some Amateur skit with Indian motifs, but the songs are great. They came out as a separate album and there were such great songs as TICKET TO RIDE, the NIGHT BEFORE and HELP itself!
The film is positioned for all ages, a musical Comedy. The Queen was present at the premiere. But we did not show it in the USSR – just did not find it necessary. It was released on VHS only in 1989, when all our Beatles fans thoroughly aged. So we were protected from the bad Western influence. Not saved.
