Tom Petty, a cultural icon sadly passed away aged 66.
Many of us were deeply saddened by the passing of rock legend Tom Petty. Many like me, have fond memories of the talented performer who always gave of his best. Born on the 20th of October 1950 , he suffered a cardiac arrest in his Malibu home and was rushed to Santa Monica hospital where he was put on life support but was taken off shortly after.
Singer, songwriter, producer an all round nice guy. He had a long career which began in the 70's. Elvis Presley and later the Beatles had an early influence on him. Well known for his band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers he later joined with the Travelling Wilbury's and from there to a solo career. He sold over 80 million albums and in 2002 was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame. R.I.P. Tom, You will be missed.
I have to say that we a slowly losing a generation of music greats such as Tom Petty and Walter Becker but to name a few. I grew up listening to these guys so today is yet another sad loss to music and the world,
I just saw Tom Petty had died a couple of hours ago. A very horrible thing to wake up to. RIP Tom.
