Gig Review - Radnor & Lee's Brisbane Show
I was fortunate to be at the first Radnor & Lee gig in Australia last night in Brisbane.
The duo have a delightful balance on stage between Ben’s exuberance and Josh’s modest introspection.

The two decided to shirk tradition and open the show with a tune penned that day! A rather brave move that paid off with a lovely song welcoming the audience to their house “when you’re broken, sad or stoned, when it’s sad to be alone”.

This was followed up with their first release and happy ditty “Be like the being”. Josh’s mellow tenor again balances out Ben’s falsetto harmonies.
Crowd favourite “doorstep” were interspersed with new songs unrecorded like “wild man”. Supporting act Asha Jeffries played a cameo to counter Josh’s male vocals for the love song “Still though we should dance”.
Ben has a sweet humility thanking the Australian crowd for following his career for so many years, while Josh’s confessions of learning the guitar on the job is refreshing and draws a “you’re doing great” from the crowd.
Josh played solo bringing a haunting and intense rendition of Pretty Angel to life, a tune recalling insomnia replete with incessant internal thoughts turning over.

Ben followed returning to his early success “Cigarettes will kill you” that the crowd responded to with vigour, recalling the lyrics.

The pair stepped away from the microphones, paring back the minimalistic “it’s yours once you give it away”, encouraging the crowd to join in with the chorus.

It was a brilliant night enjoying some soulful and wholesome folk/pop/indie music. I'd highly recommend to get to see them in Melbourne & Sydney in the next few days if you get the chance.
