NASH THE SLASH, born James Jeffery Pleman (March 26, 1948 - May 10, 2014) in Toronto, Ontario Canada was a Canadian icon known for his electronic and progressive rock. A multi-instrumentalist (electronic violin, electric mandolin, keyboards, synthesizer and glockenspiel), which he sometimes described them as "DEVICES" on album notes, was active from 1975 - 2012.

Working as a solo artist in 1975, he founded the progressive rock band "FM" in 1976. FM's first album titled "BLACK NOISE" was released in 1977 and in 1978 he left the band to pursue his solo career. The album was widely promoted and received a GOLD RECORD AWARD. NASH rejoined FM from 1983 to 1996 also continuing with his solo work.

NASH's music varied from instrumental, rock and pop, new wave, new age, punk rock and has composed and performed soundtrack music for silent films live in movie theatres to accompany the screenings of the films (Nosferatu and others).

As Nash would say: Listen in safety!

If you're into something heavier check out Annihilator, Anvil, Rush and Mortillery. Also awesome canadian bands!

Thanks @behmoth! I know these bands well and plan to post about them. Anvil and Rush were a staple for my generation back in the 80's. Lots of great bands that have come out of Canada!

I saw Anvil 2 years ago at Metaldays festival here in Slovenia and they were awesome such energy and power.
Yep indeed !
