The Classics Never Die - The Rolling Stones

in #music6 years ago

It's Saturday and that means jukebox night for me, I think posting these posts on a Saturday is rather appropriate.
It's time for another trip down memory lane for me.
The Saturday night jukebox is like my church, it's what keeps me sane especially through the darker times in my life. I think the world would be a much better place if everyone listened to the Saturday night jukebox, and I don't understand how people couldn't love this music. Brush those egos aside and appreciate great music from great artists.
I think you would be hard pressed to find a person between the age of 20 and 30 these days, who wasn't influenced by their peers with classic music.

I like to keep the classics alive, but it's a shame to think about how many people do not think like this. As new generations are ushered in the classics are being replaced by music of todays era more and more. The trouble I have with music from todays era is that it's more about sex and being really good looking. Some of the film clips I see are one step away from third base on my screen.
The classics are so different, they didn't need fancy film clips or the need to dress in skimpy clothing in order to sell their records. The music from the classics spoke for itself.

Usually music from the classics are focused heavily on emotions.
One thing I really love about a lot of the classics is they were often made while the artist was on drugs of some kind of trip, you can really hear it in the music. The music has happy themes and undertones which can be rather tripped out and make no real sense.
There was a heavy focus on love, unlike the music from todays era which seems to be more about violence, relationships with conflicts and sex. I don't see how listening to this type of stuff can be good for anyone, I often think of it like sounds that are designed to alert us. So for instance a siren from a police car is a rather harsh sound that has been designed to alert us that something is wrong and we should take notice.
If you always listening to music that is full of violence how can that be good for your soul.

The classics never die, but they can be forgotten and sometimes your introduced to something you absolutely love.
I have had some interesting feed back in this series.
Here is some feedback I received from @mightpossibly

That's some nice songs!
I've never listened to a single David Bowie song before - these were some solid recommendations.

I have also received lots of great feed back, and interesting trivia from @mgood who is very knowledgeable on the classics I love.

The group, Dr Hook and the Medicine Show, wasn't very well known but they came out with a few hits.
I'm surprised they play their songs "down under".

Here is some feed back from @cheese4ead about my Pink Floyd post.

You know you won my vote at P!! 😂
Meddle was my choice for my most influential album in my challenge but Wish You Were Here is my favourite closely followed by Dark side of the moon.
The Wall freaks me out and Roger Waters lyrics are a little depressing. I still think its special though and I remember being transfixed on the artwork too. Comfortably Numb is technically an 80's track too!! Run Like Hell is a cool live track.
Awesome. Thanks @thevillan

So lets continue on with my series, I want to share another couple of my favorite tracks.

☠️ The Rolling Stones ☠️

Growing up as a kid The Rolling Stones were one of those groups I got to love from an early age.
My parents had the tour of duty records and Paint it Black was on one of those records, so naturally I fell in love with The Rolling Stones from a young age.
The Rolling Stones are a rock band from London, England.
The group originally consisted of 6 members, but the members have chopped and changed over the years. Originalls the 6 members consisted of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts and Ian Stweart.

The group has been inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame and have won a number of awards.
From Wikipedia:

The Rolling Stones were at the forefront of the British Invasion of bands that became popular in the United States in 1964 and were identified with the youthful and rebellious counterculture of the 1960s. Rooted in blues and early rock and roll, the band started out playing covers but found more success with their own material; songs such as (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction and Paint It Black became international hits.

☠️ Paint it Black ☠️

This track is my favorite from The Rolling Stones.
As a kid I used to listen to this song all the time on the tour of duty vinyls my parents had.
I love that heavy drum beat this track has, one of the truly great tracks. Such a good rhythm and I love the way the track chops and changes .
I wanna see the sun, blotted out from the sky :)

☠️ Angie ☠️

I also really love this track from The Rolling Stones.
The song has such a good soothing rhythm to is, which is really pleasant on the ears.
This song was written by Keith Richards and the lyrics are really amazing, I think the duo of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards is what made The Rolling Stones so great.
Love these lyrics.

With no lovin' in our souls
And no money in our coats
You can't say we're satisfied
Angie, I still love you baby

☠️ Wild Horses ☠️

Here is another track that I really love from The Rolling Stones.
I love the change of pace and feel that this track brings, the acoustic guitar really suits this track and the way it has been composed.
The slower pace of the track which changes with the chorus really sounds amazing and really sets this track off. This track really reminds me of the country which is one of the reasons why I love it so much.

☠️ Sympathy For The Devil ☠️

Here is another one of my favorite tracks from The Rolling Stones, another one of the absolute classics.
I really love the rhythm and beat that this track has. This track is ranked number 32 on Rolling Stone Magazines list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
The way the track has been sung really sounds amazing and goes with the beat so well to produce a great harmony.
I really love the lyrics of this track which are heavily war themed.

I rode a tank
Held a general's rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank

I have added these tracks into Villans Saturday Night jukebox Mix for you all :)

Always on a winner with the Stones @thevillan

My dad's favourite band. I was brought up on a steady diet of these guys and they have stuck ever since. My most played album is Let It Bleed but there are so many top notch albums and tracks.

Great post buddy.

Gaz

Thanks m8 yeah they were a staple for me growing up. Too many great songs to list here :)

Paint It Black would also have to be my favourite, I love the intro and faster tempo - but then, the acoustic guitars for Angie with of course, yes, the beautiful lyrics.

I see I have some catching up to do, that's a pretty comprehensive archive.

Yeah it's tough to pick a favorite from the stones.
Haha the list has gotten pretty long now :)

Paint It Black and (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction are personal favourites of mine. I have an uncle who is a huge Rolling Stones fan, like from the very beginning.
