How To Find 24 Bit Hi-Res Music For Downloading

in #music6 years ago

Looking to upgrade your music collection? Go 24 bit! If you have good earbuds or a good stereo, you will notice the difference. How do you find it? First there are the legit sites such as hdtracks.com. If you download, here are some search tips -

Search for the band or album name and add one of these to the search -

Vinyl (if you want vinyl) - most vinyl album rips are 24 bit. I prefer the sound of digital based music, but vinyl is stronger in the mid ranges to my ears. Sometimes it's fun to listen to music you like, as it was heard back in the day, and not the remastered versions that we all listen to (and perhaps prefer).

Also, look for SACD - SACD is a sound format that never made it. No one is going to buy a new piece of hardware for a new audio format, so SACD is a small niche. Don't download ISO files - you can end up with malware. Look for SACD albums that are in flac format.. They're sorta like 24 bit music, but it's different and you can read about the details.

Sometimes there's a song I want in hi res, and I can't find it. Then I realize it was on a soundtrack - say, Woodstock, and I found that song in 24/192 resolution!

Try comparing two songs in 16 (regular wav) and 24 bit - at home, in the car, and with earbuds. Beware - 24 bit albums are often 1.6-2 GB!! :)

Enjoy the music hobby and keep exploring!
