I have written already a lot about a lot of music but my heart goes out to the more alternative or rocky music. The term "alternative" can be very big for many, so I will name the next songs under "alternative" but it is more then that:)

One of the first videotapes I have ever seen was Dreamtheater Live in Tokyo. I was overwhelmed by the power of their music, their virtuosity and all the breaks and accents in the song...

I think "Pull me under" is one of the most familiar songs to the broader audience. Try listen to the instruments apart and you hear how complex this song eventually is.... They are awesome.

Testament is already a long time one of the top metal/thrash bands around. The have (Chuck Billy, singer) A native american (Indian) background. next to music they are really supporting the Indian culture in the US. I went to a concert in Eindhoven together with my brother, it was really one of the loudest concerts I have ever attend.

Alex Skolnick, the lead guitarist of Testament, had a great Jazzy project. Here they are playing Sabbath's "War Pig" awesome.

Marillion was a more progressive band at that time. The great voice of Fish combined with the typical Marillion sound mad the band going big in the 80's. The most famous song would be Kayleigh though, it's a more mainstream song :)

Camel is one of those bands where the musicians don't care if they just play for two persons or two thousand. Musican's all the way. I have heard a lot of different guitar sounds in my life, but the sound of Camel's lead player is one of the most beautiful ever heard.

Camel with Lunar Sea, a very long time ago :)

Vanden Plas I saw for the first time as support for DreamTheater in Den Bosch Holland. A great melodic band with some great riffs.. At that time the singer had broke his leg, so he was just sitting on a chair the entire show :) but they rocked.

Freak on a leash was one of the first songs I ever hearded of Korn. I was blown away by the vocals and the power of the drums and guitar riffs. I wasn't really crazy about the bassplayer because his sound was just a little like if his strings were to losse on the bassguitar :)

I close this list of songs with "Prophecy" by Soulfly. I have a very big weak for this band. Love them. Max, the frontman, is such an artist. He writes cultural, political flavoured songs. His grunting is one of a kind.. Listening to their music makes my car drive faster :)

Have a great day
