Discussing Eddie's behavior can not seem to ignore his world as an activist. His concern for others and the environment is an integral part of an Eddie. A concrete dedication of what he uttered through music and lyrics.  Eddie's trail as an activist can be found since in the San Diego music community. Eddie with Bad Radio often filled charity stages, concerns about forests, homelessness, and various activities with Amnesty International.  

But his concern on social issues is also the reason for Eddie remove from Bad Radio. It was revealed Pierce Flynn, friend of Eddie. According to Pierce, Eddie wants Bad Radio to continue playing in social activities. While other personnel want to do different things.  

Eddie's involvement in various social activities at that time was mostly done with Beth Liebling. His first wife who was still a boyfriend. Once, Eddie and Beth once brought a homeless person to his apartment. Let her take a bath, give her clothes, and pay her way back to her home in the Midwest.  

Eddie is also a fairly vocal musician voicing his criticism of US government policy. Even ahead of the 1992 presidential election, Eddie blatantly showed his impartiality to Josh Bush by displaying a T-shirt that read, "No Bush 92".

Eddie's social activities are still continuing to this day. So is the other Pearl Jam personnel who are now active. Various issues became their concern. From the start handling poverty, environment, health, including child issues such as victims of war and justice. 

Each personnel has its own affiliated organization. Eddie is affiliated with EB Reseach Partnership, STTR, and J / P HRO. Its activities are not only handling and advocacy, but also research.

The entire Pearl Jam personnel's social activities were framed in a charity they formed, the Vitalogy Foundation. Where every ticket sales show Pearl Jam is set aside for managed foundations. Later, the funds collected will be distributed to various affiliate organizations earlier.
