A really cool quesiton - Who are your Blockchain Neighbors???

in #myblock6 years ago

Intriguing question brought to us by @sndbox. This neat project level curation project is asking questions every monday, and today we can take a glimpse into the wonders of our beloved Steem blockchain!

So the task is very simple, make a post (thats this one) and then go check out more information on the block included the post! Checking out the neighbors, what do we see!

I was very recently linked in a post as a neighbor (lol probably because I have been commenting so much!) by @zoexantelamv. As she analyzed [her post]'s block, I was, along with other's, neighbors in that block! It turns out that she is also a curator with @c-squared!

The comment that I left that shared a block with her post? I dove into the block and found it!

So I am going to make this post and do the same thing. What a cool initiative to understand a little more about this fun blockchain that we operate on! Its especially important now that the price is so low, that we continue to remember that this is FUN! ARE YOU HAVING FUN YET?!!!!??!!!

Time to buy, Love and Light!

Here's the deets from the block!

@blocktrades, thank you for putting that block in the chain for me!

All the data looks goofy, like a really old computer print out!

Here were the users I found in the block!
@dorna, @lipspin, @gomatthew, @avizor, @stehaller, @indextrader24, @travelwithethan, @happychau123 creating orders in the internal market, @stmeme, @naomix, @jullyg, @steemplayroom, @gauravgpt60, @jbrrd upvoting @solarsupermama (I recognize you two!), @steemgartrail, @igster, @peacewarriorette, @lucylin responding to @freebornangel (that guy is a very philosophical conversationalist), @cryptomonitor, @beaphotos, @rynow, @pandorasbox, @delude, @sunsethunter, @planespotter, @doc-speakeasy, @selfvotejustice editing a post, @bayes, @roma112, @ecoinstant (that's this very post!), @larix, @ajcardib, @danim, @gutzygwin, @igora, @cause, @johnstaff, @eaglespirit claiming her rewards!, @melissawaters1zz being notified by @steemitboard, @sonofzeus updating his cover image, and @shatyn.

If you get this notification, leave a comment under here!

i saw @adamtran doing this just a minute ago LOL not exactly sure what this means or you saying “claiming her rewards.” hahahahah
funny, freeborn angel has been on eof my faves too.

So in the block in question, you posted a transaction, it was a transaction that you were 'claiming your rewards', like when you earn from a post or comment and you click and then you get the money!

It was cool to see some users that I recognized, like you!

oh that's nuts LOL i actually have steemauto collect on my behalf now. LOL maybe a dummy move but keeps me from doing it. hehe
i'll do the block thing tomorrow, very cool indeed! :)

@eaglespirit So whenever you publish, comment, upvote, downvote, transfer...they are all recorded on Steem blockchain as transactions. It publicly recorded in a so-called block, each block is produced in 3 second by a witness ( your landlord) xD
In each block, there is not only your activities (transactions) recorded but many other steemians' activities also recorded in there (Bcz when you upvote to someone, there is also other people just comment or publish a post at the very same moment). So they are your neighbours in that block.

kkk, hope it's not confusing for you :P

yay, you explained this perfectly adam! :)

@ecoinstant,

ARE YOU HAVING FUN YET?!!!!??!!!

YOU BET!

Here's a game I like to play. It's called, "80-Something."

Before looking at my wallet each day, I try to guess the amount of my accumulated wealth. The pittance-per-post I manage to make is, of course, counteracted by the steady decrease in Steem price.

So here's the fun part: Is it $82 or $87 or $81? Once in a while, for a real hoot, I calculate the number of hours I've spent creating posts and divide it by the amount of my net worth. And guess what? It's 80-something hours of work for every dollar of profit.

So there you have it: 80-Something. It used to be 100-Something but I renamed the game to reflect the ever-changing realities of Steemit.

Who says this blockchain is so utterly dysfunctional that its dysfunction will be the impetus for it's replacement by a competitor that manages to implement the most common-sensical of rules? Not me.

Whoo-Hoo!!!

Quill

NEVER DIVIDE BY HOURS!!!!!

I'm serious because then you might get depressed. Its best if you think about all the FUN time you have spent and then realize that you got 80 DOLLARS!!!!! For all that FUN!

Some other ways to think about it is - free hosting for all of your great poetry! Monetized poetry platform that pays per post (perchance a pittance, but please ponder the possibilities!)

Also I like to recalculate based on different evaluations of the steem price. How do those numbers look assuming $100 dollar steem?

Just remember, its all fun and games until we can pay our bills!

thats a much better way of looking at it ^^^

@ecoinstant,

GOL (Guffawing Out Loud). Alex, you're a damnably manipulative fellow ... playing the only card that could work on a verse poet ... alliteration. Kudos.

Nice.

@quillfire I can't resist playing words with you 😎

This is the most adorable dorkiness I've seen in a while. I love it.

And yes I'm having so much fun and also have found one of the most loving and supportive communities ever.
