Native - Creating Community-backed Value

Who would you rather have control your currency, the self-serving government or the understanding community?

The recent surge of cryptocurrencies has shown that most(if not all) of us would like to have a say in what we attach value to and the express freedom to use/spend that value without any interference, limitations or unnecessary charges.

Community based tokens/currency is not exactly a new concept. In 2011, the New York Magazine reported a tide-detergent barter system used to trade within some illegal circles.

On the flip side, in the Berkshires region of Massachusetts, over 400 businesses accept and use Berkshares to strengthen and boost community relationships.

Even online, the digital community Second Life uses Linden Dollars to bolster interactions and as payment for services.

We've also seen this being adapted in the corporate world with Amazon Coins and Starbucks Stars.

The only downside to all these examples is that they are region-only or company-only in their use. This greatly limits the global adaptation of community value that we all want.

This is where Native comes in.

What is Native?

Native is an Ethereum-based platform that allows people of similar interests to come together as a community and attach value to their common interest effectively generating value and being able to manage it with the use of community-backed decision making tools.

Let's look at this introduction video

With Native it's all about the community. And unlike others, native is global.

Objective of Native

Native works on the premise that people should be able to earn from things they are passionate about. From movie making to comic reading to cooking to artistry, we shouldn't be limited on our definition of value.

Native works with these CORE VALUES

  • Every community has its own unique token.
  • Decisions within every community are taken based on polled results.
  • Members of every community can earn tokens of that community by completing tasks.

Who Can Use Native?

Everyone can use Native. As long as you have a passion or interest, you can easily connect with similar minds on the native platform.

The Native Ecosystem

The Native ecosystem houses different individuals and different tokens.

Individuals

  • Curators

These are the administrators of the native communities. They help filter content put on display for the community to streamline events with the interest of the community. They also accept/decline contributions by members.

  • Members

These are participants who joined communities. They can vote on poll decisions and enjoy other special benefits of being members of the community. Users can be members of multiple communities at once. Members can also become Curators.

Tokens

  • Native Token
This is the native token of the platform and serves as a base currency.
  • Community Token
This is the custom token designed and generated for a particular community. It can be traded for other community tokens or for Native token.

How To Be a Part of Native

To be a part of a Native community, you simply need to join the native platform and buy tokens of the community you would like to join. Ownership of these tokens gives you a "staking power" or voice in the community, and in Native every voice is important.

Types of communities already in existence include

User Case Scenario

Mbaku is a longtime fan of the "Seikon No Quaiser" anime and frequently designs impressive miniature models of the characters. However in his locale no one shares the interest. Rather than give up on his interest he searched the internet and finds a community of Seikon No Quaiser fans on the Native platform. After joining the community and sharing his experience, there is a massive request for his miniature dolls and Mbaku earns tokens by providing the service.
The community also decides to vote on a location for a get together for a cosplay event and by majority vote Mbaku's house is chosen as the desired event center.

Native Token

The Native ecosysystem makes use of the native token NTV which is used to power activities on the platform. Native token can be bought using Brave Browser or Metamask wallet.

Conclusion

The every essence of community is mutual interest. And value should depend on what we care about, not what a government decides as the government most times doesn't have our best interests at heart. Native provides a fertile subsoil for value to be generated and managed by a community that is focused on empowering it's members. This is a very solid project, and personally I think they are legit.
Their mainnet is already live. You can quickly launch their app here. Feel free to give them a try and see what communities you belong in!

@curie

Great post dude, interesting idea behind the project. The focus on empowerment through the actual community has huge potential to help people currently struggling to find success in doing what they love rather then having to cater to others desires.

Do you know if their token is listed anywhere?

Right now they aren't listed. But the genius of the whole thing is that each community can develop their own token and don't necessarily depend on NVT

Definitely going to have to check into this a little deeper, would be good to have a way of financing the onelove projects 💪
