Native- the platform for building your tokenized community

in #native6 years ago (edited)

Being in a group of friends with the same interest is something many envisage. There are many Whatsapp groups, Instagram pages dedicated to a common interest out there. You see many people joining these communities due to the common interest shared by the accounts.

This common interest may be either love of a program, celebrity, a cause and so on. Most of the individuals do it for love and don’t gain anything from it.

Imagine a scenario where you are able to connect with users with the same common interests and earn at the same time. This is part of what Native is trying to achieve.

These communities have their tokens which can be likened to local currencies such as Salt spring dollars used by the locals and other tourists in Salt Spring Island Canada. These local currencies are not created to replace the national currency but just to complement it. These local currencies are backed by a single reserve currency.

With this, the local currencies can neither be valued against each other nor adopted globally. It’s also difficult for non-technical communities to create their own local currency. This is due to the fact that there is no fundamental structure set down already. These are some of the challenges Native looks to rectify.

What is Native?

Native is a platform built on the Ethereum blockchain that promotes the fundamental structure for valuing and operating communities through their own local currencies.

This means that the challenges faced by local currencies implementation have been solved on the Native platform. Any user with basic computer knowledge can create a community and launch their community token on Native.

Native Ecosystem

Having prior technical knowledge is not a pre-requisite for creating a community on Native.
Users with limited funds and inadequate technical know-how can participate. You can either join an existing community for a pre-defined fee or create a new one.

Starting a community is easy on the Native platform. There are different templates suitable for different kind of communities. Since this communities require some token to join, this creates a capital pool for the community to use when carrying out tasks thus replacing issues arising from lack of funds. There is also a poll feature that allows members to have a say in community decisions. These are some of the benefits of starting a community.

In any given community, we have two user types. They are

Curators – They are the administrators of the communities. They have full knowledge of what the community wants to achieve and thus vet contents in the community. They ensure that only contents related to the community goals are added for members to view.

Members – Members are key in any community on Native. They are involved in making decisions in the community. Members can join multiple communities and also become curators.

Native Token

The Native Token (NTV) is the base currency for all other community currencies on the Native platform.

Community token

This is a unique token for each community on the Native platform. This community token is deployed as Bancor Smart Token and can be converted to another community token within Native using the Bancor Protocol. Purchase of this token by new members joining the community generates funds for the community. Revenues gotten from community actions can also generate funds for the community. These funds aid the growth of the community. The funds can be used in running projects and tasks in the community.

Use Case

Ola is a health enthusiast who is interested in improving the well-being of people in the world. Inability to find other offline users with the same interest led him to the Native platform where he saw SDG futures. On purchasing the community token and joining, Ola is now part of the community and involved in making decisions.

A task was created by the curator for members to design logo, fliers, and banners for the community to use in their next awareness. Ola having prior knowledge of graphics design claimed the task and completed it within the stipulated time. The curator approves the completed task and Ola is paid the bounty.

A community I would like to start on the platform is one created solely for eradicating poverty. Poverty eradication can be a thing of the past if like minds leverage on the power of the Native platform. The existence of the fundamental structure will make this easier to accomplish.

Conclusion

Communities are building block of a society. Funds and members are key to any successful community and this is what the Native platform tends to address. A community where members can be valued and involved in the decision-making process while earning from it is what Native platform wants. This will set up the Native platform in the quest for global adoption.
