NATO SUMMIT 2018

I will be very blunt in this short article because it's our responsibility to spell out the truth otherwise journalism is dead. But to be clear, I'm not a journalist rather a concerned citizen of the world.

What is NATO:
NATO is an acronym for the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, also called the North Atlantic Alliance, which is an intergovernmental military alliance between 29 North American and European countries. It was founded on April 4, 1949, Washington, D.C., United States, with its Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. (source ).

Purpose of NATO:
During the Cold War, the Soviet Union was mounting in power and capturing neighbouring countries and using them as a dynamic force to protect its border against invasion. This tactic was powerful that other countries feared that they may be the next. In response to that NATO was formed to Protect members states against Soviet Expansion.

As such one can easily emphasise that the main purpose of NATO was to defend each other from the possibility of the communist Soviet Union taking control of their nation. ( Source: ). Most people are myopic when it comes to NATO without recognising their attributions to end conflicts in Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

NATO's Target
The Sept. 11, 2001 attacks including Russia aggression has led to the alliance setting goals for military spending at least 2% of their GDP on defence. (Source ) NATO's own figure shows that only 5 of it 28 Alliance members are meeting the requirement agreed upon in 2016.

The U.S. — 3.61 percent of GDP on defense

Greece – 2.38 percent of GDP spent on defense

United Kingdom – 2.21 percent of GDP spent on defense

Estonia – 2.16 percent of GDP spent on defense

Poland – 2 percent of GDP spent on defense

Trump's Foreign Policy:
NATO members have been signalled by President Trump on different occasions to meet up the minimum Military Spending as agreed upon. Though his predecessors, President Bush and Obama tried with a friendly tone, member's states were deaf to adhere to their own requirement.

President Trump has made it one of his cornerstones to spread the tidings that the United States can no longer continue to pay the Lion share of 22 per cent of the cost, while other countries continue to enrich their own countries.

In as much as many pundits have predicted the worst nightmare about President Trump foreign policies and his trip to Europe, he has surpassed their expectations. These are the same elite who supported President Obama in his Apology tours, they are on it again predicting Doom to a man who has done a fantastic job.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, rather than keeping a blind eye to the mayhem of the organisation, President Trump cautioned Germany regarding it Nord Stream 2 Gas pipeline with Russia. According to President Trump, " German Pipeline deal with Russia is horrible". German want Alliance defence against Russia but indirectly funding Russia through this deal... It doesn't make sense.

Put differently, Natural Gas accounted for roughly 20% of the country's total final consumption in 2016 (Source: IEA ) there is a possibility that German may be a captive of Russia through this deal, meaning Russia can increase the price at its whims and Germany may need to compromise its stance against them.
