Awesome write up! I find in upstate NY that it is the yellow birch that chaga prefers instead of the silver birch. I've had great luck with birch that have fallen near creek banks because their roots have become partially exposed from erosion. The trees are at ground level and a ton easier to harvest from then standing dying trees. Just something to look out for. Again, great job!
