Found my first Reishi Mushroom today!
I started hunting mushrooms a few years ago and it's become a bit of an obsession. There is nothing like going into the forest (for-rest) not just for a walk, but with a purpose.
I've found, and eaten, all kinds of mushrooms- maitake, chanterelle, lions mane, oyster- just to name a few.
But, the mighty Reishi has eluded me...until now.
I'll double extract this mushroom, which basically means to soak it in water for a while and then soak the same mushroom in alcohol, later to combine the two into a potion of sorts.
If you're not aware, reishi mushrooms have all sorts of beneficial qualities for our bodies. To save time I won't go into detail, but do a Google search and a zillion things will pop up.
Next time you find yourself in a patch of woods start looking around for a few mushrooms. I think you'll be shocked at what you have walked over without ever noticing. Mushrooms are everywhere, and once you start looking it's as if they start to find you.
Do some homework and look for easily identifiable mushrooms, or find a guide to help you.
Be careful though, once you start hunting the fungus you might just be hooked for life....
thanks for the mushrooms story
