A Nice Way to Spend Mother's Day [Nature]
Happy Mother's Day
This is the first full day off I have had in a while, so I was fortunate enough to be able to spend some time with family. That is probably the best way to spend this holiday. Today, we were invited to visit and enjoy some BBQ.
We went to visit my sister, who has one daughter, and three step-daughters. She has had a rough past few months going through chemo-therapy and radiation to treat a form of brain cancer. This was the first time I had seen her in almost a year.
In this post, I am not going to share photos of her or my family, as I think that is best kept private. Instead I will post some images of her wonderful house in the country. Living in a secluded #country area has been a recent dream of mine, so it was nice to be able to live that dream for a single happy afternoon.
In front of a large #gooseberry bush filled with berries, the wind ornaments were spinning.
This area was built to house their #rabbits. The extra shade was provided to keep them cool on hot days like today.
My sister's husband built this sheek #gazebo, and he did a great job. I spent most of the afternoon lounging here in the shade enjoying the view, the air, and some time alone playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on my nintendo switch. After the busy week I've had, I think I deserved some peace and quiet.
I asked her about the little field, and she said they recently mulched it. They will probably be planting new vegetables in here soon.
In the back they have a net for volleyball or badminton, and also various fruit #trees.
This is the neighbors #garden actually. Some of my bonsai friends on steemit are interested in growing flowering trees like this, so I wanted to show what it looks like in full bloom when pruned and nicely trained across a small #arbor.
This looks like a #greenhouse and #compost piles in the neighbors yard. I think they used it get a head start growing cabbages, peppers, and tomatoes mostly.
This little guy was hard to chase down.
He seemed to feel more comfortable behind the wire #fence when I was near. The #rabbit was nibbling on #carrots.
They let the rabbit enjoy running free in the entire yard. The shade was the most comfortable area today, but he sometimes snuck up like a cat-burglar behind me in the gazebo.
So nice to be able to put my feet up. I have been on my feet a lot this week.
Something about this swing began to pull at my heartstrings. The view. The vineyard. The sky. The trees. The natural wood.
It reminded me that we really are on this earth a short while, and we must cherish every moment we have #together.
This was growing on the side of the house. Many new large #leaf stems were pushing out.
The white bearded #iris waved in the wind as we said our goodbyes. We will be back another day.

Enjoy the #sunshine while it lasts.
