Hi Steemit family!

Iberian Lynx, almost extinct

Today we continue with the most striking felines of the planet, I will be dedicating this week and part of the other week to the most elegant and curious animals for their egocentric and solitary character, the felines. Today is the turn of the Iberian Lichen, today one of the felines that are most threatened in the table of extinction risk. Come with me to learn more about this incredible species.

It is perhaps one of the most beautiful wild felines of all, is very elegant robust, perhaps not last long this species and that according to the most recent data is estimated that there are about 300 specimens in the area of Andalusia Spain and Mount Toledo where only about 10 are fully monitored to track their health and natural life.

Among its main characteristics we have that it has very long legs and against part has a very small tail that has a small black tassel throughout its end. Perhaps the most striking feature is his ears are very pointed, which are a special design to go unnoticed round head, also has a beautiful coat that has different shades of brown, gray and some black motes.

Its weight in the adult stage in the case of males is 15 kilograms and 10 kilograms, females. Between males and females, they present serious sexual dimorphism. This taking into account that it is not the only lynx species on the planet, it is a smaller proportion than other types of links such as the Eurasian and Siberian.

As for their diet, we have that it is 100% carnivorous, their diet is based on the ingestion of rabbits, they are biologically prepared to hunt these wild rodents, although they can also face other species. But rabbit intake alone accounts for 90 percent of their diet.

In the reproductive field, we have that, in spite of being a very solitary feline, they gather year after year in the mating season. For 2 months the male and female lynx, are together, and build their nest of love, once they come to life the mother has the exclusivity of breeding, and 3 months the lynx will be ready to begin to learn to hunt with their mother and in just 1 year of life the lynx will reach sexual maturity and begin its reproductive cycle, despite being in danger of extinction even its life expectancy is 15 years.

As for its habitat we have that it is a species that is found especially in Mediterranean forests and where there are no traces of human life, his instincts lead him to have a territory of 10 square kilometers where it is kept active delimiting the territory and also analyzing the best places to hunt, currently are in the Spanish parks as Sierra de Andújar Natural Park, Doñana National Park, Sierra de Cardeña Natural Park is where the best specimens are found.

Currently, there are about 400 specimens left and a captive breeding plan is managed for their subsequent reinsertion into their habitat, the main cause of death has been the rollings. In addition, many inhabitants of some cities where the lynx's territory is found hunt it to obtain its fur. In addition, the cities bring with them chemical products with which they are easily poisoned, the situation has not been easy but it is expected an increase of its population in the next year's thanks to different programs of preservation. In the meantime, it is still on the red list of endangered animals.

What a beautiful animal! I hope they will live long and have many cups so the extinction will no longer be an issue. Probably people have too much impact on their habitat and catch rabbits as well. It's a good thing people are moving to the cities and hopefully will have less kids 😁.
