Unfrotunately the weather conditions of over part of the world doesn't support this sort of fruit. Heard this first time.
Is the black color of fruit is the reason of its name?

Yeah, it's only found in pretty northern places where it can get really cold. I think the name either has to do with its color, or because it gets eaten by birds such as crows. I'm not entirely sure :P
