Koh Kood

in #nature6 years ago

The island has historically always played an important role as the most easterly point of the kingdom of Thailand, formerly known as Siam. However, this has never led to the construction of large forts or fortresses or other large-scale military base on Koh Kood, so apart from a few small lookouts, the island was very recently the area of a modest number of fishermen and their families who peacefully co-operated with a number of coconut tree nurseries and rubber plantation holders. According to the figures of the Thai government, there are currently only 1700 official inhabitants on the island and there are only 6 rows of houses that can call themselves a village, so people who are looking for peace and a place for themselves will here certainly come into their own, especially when you consider that Koh Kut is 23 km long and often 9 km wide.
