A watchful Eye
The oceans creatures are a resourceful bunch for sure. Crabs are probably the one species that exemplifies more than others. Hermit crabs don any matter of object man made or natural for protection and will discard their shells for a new one a any given time.
Other crabs like this Pigmy Rock Crab find protection, a home and a place to lay their eggs inside the left over empty shells of Giant Acorn Barnacles. The shells also act as a host for other animals to go such as this yellow encrusting sponges and small Plumose Anemone.
Having the sponge attached to its home the crab as the added bonus of being able to pick off food that the sponge may attract and almost never leaves the safety of it home.
