Tree-Poet - Poppies loads of Poppies ... Real ones !!!! Opium Poppy (PAPAVER SOMNIFEROUS)

Possibly A gangsters Opium Farm or Grown for medicinal purposes. Warning: Don't muck about with these plants unless you know what you are doing. I woke up hours later laying on my back, thinking I was in outer space.

Poppies, Poppies everywhere
Oh such beauty they will make you stare.
Extraordinary Poppies healing properties they hold
They are poison they are toxic we’ve been told

Anyway I thought I’d share this as I found this fascinating. We went strolling again. This time we stumbled across a field of falling petals. Delicate purple petals falling softly to the ground each stem with huge pods at the end standing proudly like antennas transmitting a frequency as an attempt to guide us closer to their secrets.

Now these Poppies have strong medicinal properties. I assume this is why someone would grow these here. The other assumption is that we stumbled across a Gangsters heroin farm and am now broadcasting it to the Steemit world. Either way, no biggy.

I feel I should take a moment to tell you about these amazing natural creations.

Poppies are herbaceous plants. This species of Poppy (PAPAVER SOMNIFERUM) is the source of the drug Opium which contains powerful medicinal alkaloids, such as Morphine and has been used since ancient times as an analgesic and narcotic medicinal and recreational drug.

The use of opium poppies goes back to the Sumer (Sumerian) which were an ancient civilization which recorded their use in forms of images.

There are several different types of Poppies, they all contain some amount of narcotic if they are in the Papaver genes. However Papaver Somniferum has the highest concerntration of narcotics.

Opium Poppies are grown commercially in the UK for Medical opiates such as morphine.
Opium Poppies feature on the royal college of Anesthetists coat of arms.
Poppy seeds contain Opium alkaloids. They are prohibited goods. So you cannot take them on planes.
The flower of Opium has been worshipped as a devine gift from god.

Heroin, Morphine, Codeine and Buprenorphine are all made using the Opium Poppy.

Opium is both physical and psychologically addictive like all Opiate drugs. It binds to the brain’s chemical reactors and replaces and supresses the production of all the naturally occurring “feel good” chemicals. As tolerance for the drug increases the user would need more to get the same effect. Leading to addiction.

The author Lewis Carrol was an avid opium user and it has been told many of his characters in the story Alice in wonderland were created under the influence of opium. As was Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde. The story Kubia Khan by Samuel T Coleridge is said to be the most popular work inspired by opium use.
