La flor de mayo es la flor nacional de Venezuela.
La Flor Nacional de Venezuela es la planta de tipo ornamental, que oficialmente representa parte de la belleza natural de Venezuela, y que conforma junto al Árbol Nacional y al Ave Nacional de Venezuela, los Símbolos Ornamentales de Venezuela. En Venezuela la Flor Nacional, es la orquídea venezolana, que también es llamada "Flor de Mayo", debido a que el pueblo venezolano, la utiliza para adornar la Cruz de Mayo durante una fiesta tradicional religiosa que lleva el mismo nombre. Fue nombrada como Flor Nacional el 23 de mayo de 1951 por decreto presidencial del entonces presidente de la Junta de Gobierno Germán Suárez Flamerich.1

In Venezuela the National Flower is the Venezuelan orchid, which is also called "Flor de Mayo", because the Venezuelan people use it to decorate the May Cross during a traditional religious festival that bears the same name. It was named as National Flower on May 23, 1951 by presidential decree of the then president of the Governing Board Germán Suárez Flamerich.1
