Failure but ... / 今回は失敗談を

This time I share my failed project. I started sewing a shirt for my daughter for up coming spring/summer last weekend. It's good to sew/knit clothes one season ahead ... This is one of the improvements I wanted to do for long.

週末に春夏の子どものシャツを縫い始めました。1-2シーズン先のものを縫うのがいいことはわかっていたのになかなかできず、ここはよい改善。

I sewed most of the part. Then I got to know it can be too tight for her and a shirt with cotton 100% fabric is not easy to wear for her age.

・・・が、ほとんど縫い終わって子どもに試着してもらおうとするときつい。生地が綿１００％ということもあり、格闘になりました w

So my improvement will be:

• See the size in advance by comparing the pattern and existing clothes with good fit
• Use elastic fabric (for my daughter at least). It may be also good to avoid ironing process ;)

今後は、型紙を作ったらぴったりの服と合わせてちょうどいいサイズか見る、子どもの服は基本的に伸びる素材が吉という教訓を得ました。

I'll finish it and bring it to my friend with smaller daughter. I use similar fabrics I got from my friend for easy summer shorts for my daughter.

このシャツは縫い終えて、もうちょっと小さい女の子のいる友人に使ってもらえるか聞いてみようと思います。似た感じの布をあと2枚もっていて、残りの2枚は夏用の短パンにしようかなと思います。

It's not needlework but I had fun time with my daughter baking cookies. Without her I may not had a chance to make baby/kid clothes or bake this kind of cookies. I'm thankful to the small person who brings me many interesting things.

これは針仕事ではありませんが、週末に型抜きクッキーを子どもと作って遊びました。子ども服を縫うのもそうで、こんなことって子どもが生まれなければすることもなかったのかなと思うと、なんだか不思議な訪問者が人生に現れたような気分でもあります。おもしろい機会をたくさんありがとうね！
